Energy assets are spread out, mostly unmanned and expensive to visit, so problems at them are found late: a stripped cable spotted on the morning drive, a generator that drank more diesel than it produced power, a fault reported days ago to nobody in particular. We use the cameras, meters, trackers and systems already installed across your sites to turn those physical events into alerts, jobs and records the same hour they happen.

Unmanned sites that report themselves

Substations, solar farms, pump stations, reservoirs and tower sites sit behind a fence and a guard who cannot watch all of it. We run detection on the cameras already fitted — a person on the perimeter at night, someone climbing a structure, a vehicle standing where none should be — and send a verified alert with the clip attached to the control room and to a phone. Patrol points and gate entries are logged the same way, so a site visit becomes a record.

Diesel and generation you can account for

Standby and prime-power generation is the cost that quietly ruins a budget. We tie running hours and kWh produced to the fuel that went in: bowser draws, tank readings, delivery notes and supplier invoices, each captured where it happens instead of typed up at month end. When litres per kWh drift from the usual pattern, or a signed delivery does not match the tank rise, the variance is raised while the driver is still reachable.

Solar, hybrid and mini-grid operations

Inverter and plant alarms usually arrive as an email nobody owns. We route them into a job with an assignee, a due time and an escalation path, alongside what the cameras see on the ground: soiling, shading from vegetation, a module knocked out of line. For mini-grids and independent power producers — businesses generating power for sale rather than their own use — meter readings, site visits and client billing sit on one record, so reconciling with the offtaker is a report rather than an argument.

Field crews, plant and permits

Vehicle tracking and geofences — virtual boundaries drawn around a site that log every arrival and departure — show which crews reached which sites and how long they stayed. Bluetooth Low Energy tags, small battery-powered tags fixed to an asset, keep test sets, cable drums and portable generators accounted for between store, vehicle and site. Permits to work and job packs move to the crew's phone, and signed paperwork returns as a photograph filed against the job.

Meters, faults and the customer side

Most utility and producer complaints are the same three: my meter is wrong, my power is off, where is my connection. A WhatsApp agent answers those on the channel customers already use, takes a fault report with a location and a photograph, gives outage updates it has actually been told about, and hands anything unusual to a person with the history attached. New connections, tariff enquiries and commercial solar leads run through InOne CRM, so a stale quotation is chased rather than forgotten.

Detection and recording run on a small computer at the site, so load shedding or a fibre cut interrupts neither; records synchronise afterwards.

Pump stations, boreholes and reservoirs use the same parts: site monitoring, runtime and consumption records, fault reporting and customer messaging.

Site assessment

We walk a representative site with your operations and finance people, agree which loss to attack first — theft, fuel, downtime, customer response — and document the cameras, meters and systems already installed.

Integration

We connect camera streams, generator and meter data, trackers and your accounting or maintenance system. Through this phase the system observes and reports only; it is not permitted to act.

Rules and guardrails

Detection zones, night-time rules, fuel variance thresholds and escalation paths are agreed, then tested against real footage and historical fuel records until an alert is worth waking somebody for.

Go live and optimise

The system takes the workflow and we review weekly at first, tuning thresholds, camera angles and escalation times. A first system is typically running in about four to six weeks.

Questions buyers ask

Our remote sites have no fibre and unreliable power. Will this work?

Yes, and it is built for that. Processing happens on a small industrial computer at the site, on the same supply and battery as your other equipment, so detection and recording continue through an interruption. Alerts leave over the mobile network, and a failed camera or link is reported as a fault rather than passing as silence.

Do we need to replace our cameras or fit new meters?

Usually not. Any IP camera with a standard stream is enough for detection, and most generator controllers, inverters and meters already expose data we can read. Where a camera points at the wrong thing, the assessment says so before you spend on hardware.

Can it integrate with our SCADA or monitoring platform?

In most cases yes. SCADA — the supervisory system that controls and monitors plant — is left to do its job; we read from it rather than replace it, turning its alarms and readings into jobs, records and messages. We do not ask for control of switching or protection equipment.

Will this stop diesel theft outright?

Honestly, no system does that alone. What it does is remove the places theft hides: every draw, delivery and running hour is recorded as it happens, and anything that does not reconcile is raised while the evidence is fresh.

Who owns the data, and where does it live?

You do. It sits in your own environment or a tenant dedicated to you, in a location you have been told about, with access by role and a retention period written into the agreement. Footage, meter and customer data are yours to export.

We are a large power user, not a utility. Is this relevant?

It is often where the return is clearest. Factories, mines, farms and hospitals running generators and solar alongside grid supply have the same fuel, uptime and site security problems without a dedicated energy team.
